Crafter Hours
Jan 26, 2017
While searching for something fun to do with my girlfriends, I stumbled on a serious gem in Mount Joy – Crafter Hours.
The small studio describes itself as a craft room for those who love Pinterest and Etsy. When you walk
in the door, you are greeted with a friendly staff and a wall of DIY home décor, ranging from small holiday
plaques to large living room signs. They also provide a selection of projects for any age or skill level.
When you pick a sign that is perfect in your home, you then completely customize it by choosing the design of
the paper you use, truly making the crafts completely unique!
The studio opened in a different location in April of 2015 and recently moved, when owner Karen McCrady said
the perfect spot became available last July. She loves being able to offer the people of Mount Joy - and
neighboring communities - a place to come and craft because there are no other DIY paint nights nearby.
Projects start at a mere $12 for kids’ crafts and $25 for adults. She stated that they recently added a bigger
piece of wood because "the bigger the better.” Because each piece is completely custom-made, prices can
widely vary.
The studio also offers a variety of specialty craft nights once a month, which can be found on their Facebook
Page. The space can also be booked for private parties at no cost to the customer except for the cost of each
guest’s craft. Over the summer, kid craft days are offered and a special toddler craft is often available for under
$20.
Karen said her favorite craft is the "pocket change" with a mason jar attached, spoken like a true mom, always
picking up other people's stuff. My personal favorite is the last-name plaque I made for my entry way and the
kids’ crafts my boys enjoyed SO much.
And the absolute best part? IT IS BYOB! Cheers!
